Every morning as I walk to my office, I pass through the “Quiet Zone” corridor. The collection of vintage photographs captures my attention as each picture tells a historical story of how USM came to be. I started investigating beyond those walls and discovered more about USM's rich history. I presented my findings to the Lower and Middle School students, and they were fascinated to learn that the first kindergarten and the first gymnasium in the United States were originated by one of USM’s early predecessor schools.
