Excitement in the Air

This blog post was written the morning of December 14 — before we all learned of the indescribable school tragedy in Connecticut. I therefore did not feel it was appropriate to post later that day. We all join in expressing our deepest sympathy towards those affected by last Friday's events.

As I walked through the Upper School this morning on the way to my office, I was amazed by the positive energy and excitement that was in the air! Not exactly what you might expect with final exams going on. I was almost moved to tears as I took in the landscape of students excitedly discussing concepts and engaged in thoughtful conversation. This is what our dedicated faculty members work toward – students who take responsibility for their own learning. I wish every parent could have been there to see this scene.

Excitement will soon shift from exams to winter break and I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our school families a wonderful holiday season and a happy and healthy 2013.
